OIWC Announces Polly-Esther
A 1970’s event at Outdoor Retailer to support the OIWC Education Foundation
The Outdoor Industry Women’s Council, a non-profit association of women organized for the purpose of equipping women to reach their professional success in the outdoor industries, and title Sponsor Fox River, presents Polly-Esther: We’ve Come a Long Way, Baby.
Reviving an old tradition, Polly-Esther is a 1970’s Disco themed event with all proceeds benefiting the OIWC Education Foundation. The doors open at 7:00 PM on August 9, 2008 at the Pierpont Place, Salt Lake City, UT. Wear your best bell bottoms and get ready to do the hustle as this event includes two live bands, a VIP swingers lounge, a thrift store, a side burns contest, a costume contest and a dance off.
This event benefits the OIWC Education Foundation, which supports mentoring programs, educational seminars, and online resources. And although the party will be loads of fun, the purpose of the event is to raise funds and awareness for OIWC’s mission of helping educate young women and create outdoor opportunities for them.
Jenni Dow, president of OIWC, said, “The OIWC Education Foundation will become the funding arm for the OIWC’s educational programs, a key part of the OIWC mission to further women’s professional development in the outdoor industries. It allows individuals to make tax deductible contributions, as well. We are delighted and excited about how the OIWC is evolving and supporting more women in our industries.”
Joel Anderson, president of Fox River branded division, said, "Fox River has been a committed sponsor of the OIWC for many years. We know the OIWC’s Polly-Esther party will be THE party of the OR Summer Market Show—great fun, awareness-building and raising funds for the organization. Most importantly, Fox River is proud to be a founding supporter of the OIWC’s new education foundation. We have seen the difference the OIWC is making in the industry and we encourage everyone to get involved. “Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
