Dust off those bell-bottoms, feather that hair, and dig up all those bright patterns you tried to forget. Join the coolest cats in the industry and sport your retro duds as we dance the night away to classics from 70s and 80s. Keep an eye open for hustle lessons, costume contests, and a dance off to crown the poly gal and poly guy of the night.

Event Happenings, Baby.....
At the grooviest party of the Summer you can hula hoop, get a prom-style photo, hop in a black/white photo booth for your own happy snappies, disco, drink 70's special cocktails, buy some hip accessories from the OIWC thriftstore, or buy a unique necessity from one of the Roller Girls.
But to really be a part of the party, get your funk on and sign up for a contest!
- 1,000 people groovin' the night away
- Two bands, including Neil Diamond cover band "Diamond Experience"
- Indoor and outdoor venue
- Swinger's Lounge for VIPs
- Costume contest, sideburn contest, dance off
- Roller Girls selling Pop Rocks, glow yo-yo's, and other fun necessities
- Hula hoops
It's almost wrong to call it a costume contest when you are dressing to impress, so let's refer to it as your outfit or your 'digs.' This guerilla style contest will be judged by the original poly judges, and since this ain't their first rodeo, they know what they're doing. Whip out your retro duds and put together a winning costume to impress the judges. Sign up for the contest online or at Polly-Esther.
Picture this, if you will: disco ball, lighting, and Todd Walton of Outdoor Research in his white go-go boots, teaching you the Walton family tradition of the Hustle. That's right, baby, the man you know and love is actually pulling out those boots again. Todd will get you groovin' to the sounds of Diamond Experience. No need to sign up for the lessons, just show up ready to shake that booty.
Dance Off brought to you by Fox River
After Todd gets you in the mood with his Hustle lessons, SNEWS' Michael and Therese will lead you into the Dance Off...... think Grease-style dance off, but with a lot more FUNK (it's not a 50's party). The judges (experienced dance off judges, including Fox River's Joel Anderson) will tap you on the shoulder to get you to exit the floor. The last two groovin' win the polly-couple of the night...an award that only a few ever receive. You can enter as a couple or as an individual.
Contestants already signed up include Marmot's Neide and John Cooley to start -- have you ever seen them dance? You don't have a prayer to beat them, but you can try by signing up for the contest.
What is disco without any SIDEBURNS?
Nothing! Which is why we are having an official sideburn contest. How does this work and how do you win?
Sign up and start growin' today.
- Sign up online today.
- The contest officially starts June 1, but you can sign up anytime.
- You must submit a photo w/date showing your 'burn (no longer than 1") when you sign up.
- You will be asked to submit bi-weekly photos of your progress on the 'burn blog
- The OIWC membership will narrow the participants down to five prior to the party.
- Those lucky five will compete for the 'burns of the party; judging will be done by all party-goers.

Background and purpose of the eventSince 1996, OIWC has served women in the outdoor industries by providing opportunities for networking, education and mentoring. For its 10th anniversary in 2006, OIWC launched a Professional Development program, aimed at meeting OIWC’s members’ desire for trainings and resources to help them develop their career and reach their goals, both professional and personal. OIWC hosted its first seminars at the August 2006 Outdoor Retailer and at every trade show since, and the demand for more seminars, mentoring programs, and online resources has grown dramatically.
To meet this demand, in 2008 OIWC will launch the OIWC Education Foundation, a funding arm for OIWC’s educational programs. The Education Foundation will support educational seminars and panels at trade shows and regional chapter events, intra- and cross-industry mentoring programs, and online resources including articles, job postings, discussion groups, and opportunities for networking. The OIWC Education Foundation has a 501c3 status and can accept tax-deductible contributions from individual donors.
Polly-Esther will be a fun, creative, outlandish event aimed at raising awareness and funds for the Foundation. Since OIWC’s Ramp It Up event (which sold out with 900 people attending and tickets scalped at the door!) anticipation about the next big OIWC event has been buzzing. The outdoor industry knows that OIWC can throw a good party, and we have no doubt that Polly-Esther will be the talk of the summer show, attended by every who’s-who of the industry, OIWC member, and anybody else who can get a ticket.
