An Interview with Sally Jewell, President & CEO of REI Sally
Jewell is a self-described Jack-of-All-Trades. Her career has included
strawberry picking, mechanical engineering for the oil and gas industry,
and 20 years in corporate banking. She's a tireless volunteer, serves
on numerous boards, and enjoys every outdoor activity under the sun.
Sally joined Recreational Equipment, Incorporated (REI) in 2000 as EVP
and COO after serving on the co-op's board for four years, and was
promoted to President and CEO in 2005. She lives in Seattle, Washington,
with her husband of 32 years and has two grown children and a foster
child. With OIWC's mission in mind, Sally and Elizabeth Train (OIWC
volunteer on the Membership Committee) talked about inspiration,
