Membership Chair Ali Sacash-Johnson shares how member feedback helped shape a revamped mission and vision
Last
month OIWC asked its members to partake in the annual membership
survey. OIWC uses this survey to gauge the impact of the organization
and evolve the programming its offers.
A record number of members
– 210 – completed the 2011 survey and provided some insight into how
women in the industry use OIWC’s services. For example, a vast majority
of members want OIWC to continue its expansion into new regions. OIWC
intends to continue on this path in response to the overwhelming data
that attending OIWC events – both the networking nights and the
professional development seminars – is a key membership privilege. As a first step in this direction, OIWC launches a new region in April in the Salt Lake City market.
The question
generating the most interesting responses asked members what she wanted
OIWC to accomplish in the next decade. OIWC received hundreds of
engaging replies. Some of the key consensus ideas include:
expanding
into even more regions
building robust and relevant online resources
to help women navigate her career path
acting more as an advocate
within the industries
The membership survey results were
presented to the OIWC Board of Directors at its annual retreat in
March. Those results were essential in guiding the Board as it revamped
the organization’s mission and vision and put strategies in place
for the next decade of progress. As such, the Board would like to thank
each member who took the time to share her opinions with OIWC.
In
the coming few months, look for an announcement featuring a refined
mission and vision, plus strategies around the new mission!
